INTRODUCTION: This is a Bible study into the core values of Jesus followers and what it looks like to really follow Him daily.

Here is a printed study book that follows along with the material: Life in Christ Digital Book

A Conversation of Divine Intersection

Questions for the Heart

What is your relationship with God like today? Is it quiet? Stagnant?

Do you feel like you are moving closer to Jesus, further from Him, or are you sitting still?

Can you identify a next step forward in your spiritual journey with God you may have been ignoring?

From the Scriptures

John 4:1-26, 39-42

Notice how Jesus crossed paths with this woman and changed the direction of her life forever.  Has God ever crossed paths with you? How did or will it change you?

Our Action Step

Find a friend and exchange stories of God’s activity in your life and theirs.

Session Two: Listening to the Spirit…

A Conversation on Direction

Questions for the Heart

God desires to be close to us. He is close to us so that we will be moved by Him into the world.

Has God moved in your life in a way that is powerful or big enough to move you into loving and serving the world?

As God desires to truly know you, would you be willing to “risk” and step out to truly serve and know someone else over the next 14 days?

If God has done a powerful thing in you who is someone you could spend time with this week that you could allow God to do a powerful thing through you?

From the Scriptures

Read Matthew 28:19-20

In verse 19 the word “Go” could be translated “in your going.” In other words, as you walk through your days go and make disciples. Who is someone in your everyday life that you can show the love and grace God has shown you? This is the beginning of journeying Spiritually with someone, this is the beginning of helping move others and yourself closer to Jesus daily.

Session Three: A Burning in the Heart

A Conversation About what is Kindled Within Us

Questions for the Heart

How do you hear God’s voice? Have you quieted your inner voice long enough to realize and rest in the fact that He is close and loves you?

What are some mistakes and selfish decisions you have made? Can God’s nearness draw you away from those decisions, even if it requires you to change?

What are some mistakes and selfish decisions that have been done to you? How can God’s nearness be with you at all times and, when it’s the right time, begin to make you whole again?

How can God’s love change the way you see people today?

From the Scriptures

Read Romans 5:6-10

At just the right time Christ died for ungodly people. He died for us when we had no power of our own. It is unusual for anyone to die for a godly person. Maybe someone would be willing to die for a good person. But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The blood of Christ has made us right with God. So we are even more sure that Jesus will save us from God’s anger. Once we were God’s enemies. But we have been brought back to him because his Son has died for us. Now that God has brought us back, we are even more secure. We know that we will be saved because Christ lives.

Our Action Step

Mirror God’s love and compassion as He shows it to you this week. One very practical step: Become a better listener; practice the next few days making a conversation about someone else.

Session Four: Giving It All Away…

The Spirit Calls Us to Give of Ourselves…

Questions for the Heart

What are your gifts, talents, strengths, and passions?

How are you using your uniqueness to serve others?

From the Scriptures

Read Romans 12:1-3:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Our Action Step

Risk into letting a group of people truly get to know you in a faith context. Consider visiting a church if you do not already do so. If you do consider stepping into a class or small group which will make you more visible and more vulnerable to be served and serve.

Session Six: Producers not Consumers…

You are Called to Create Something Beautiful…

Questions for the Heart

What trials or temptations are you facing that may be hindering your progress?

In what ways have you made progress in becoming the person God wants you to be?

From the Scriptures

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himselfby becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:3-8
